How to take CBD

First, it is important to understand the main forms of CBD consumption: sublinguals, smokables, edibles and topicals. The first form would be taking it sublingually. This is usually done using a tincture, or oil as some describe it. The sublingual effect allows the body to absorb the CBD a little bit faster than it would if you were to put something directly into your stomach. When taking the oil, we recommend putting it under your tongue and holding it there for about a minute before swallowing it. This allows the CBD to be absorbed through the very abundant blood vessels found in your mouth and gums. The second form is smokable products such as hemp flower or vapor. Both of these forms allow fast acting effects but come with the know health hazards of smoking anything. The third form would be edibles, or a product that you ingest that goes directly to your stomach. Here at the CBD Center of RI we offer capsules for those who do not wish to use the oil or take something sublingually. The capsules are a bit more convenient if on the go or for the folks who do not like the taste or consistency of the tinctures or oils. However, keep in mind that it is possible that you are subject to losing a little bit of the CBD to the digestive process using edibles. Both of these options are great for people who are looking for potential help with pain, sleep, anxiety, depression, stress etc. It is also very important to remember that most people will not feel the effects of CBD by using these products sporadically. In order to get the most consistent benefit CBD, one must be consistent in their consumption by taking it every day at roughly the same time so that it can build up in the system. There are very few people out there that can use their tincture or capsules “as needed” and get the same effects. The last form of consumption, which is perfect for those who do not wish to use CBD consistently, is a topical. Topicals are great because they kick in instantly (usually in about 15-20 minutes) and can be used as needed. Topicals are mostly used for pain and inflammation or other skin conditions and do not usually have an effect on the mental health side. Topicals can be used in addition to tinctures and capsules. In closing, we believe the most efficient way to consume CBD is by using a tincture daily allowing a consistent dosage delivered to your body and maintaining those levels are the key to successful CBD usage.
